I hope that my implementation is the only one that goes like this but unfortunately we have the cart ahead of the horse. Let me fill you in on our situation a bit.
We are going live with ECC and BI on the same date. In the beginning it was decided that we would activate and load Standard Business Content for every one of our functional modules. Now of couse some time was spent to identify which areas of those Functional Modules (PP, MM, FI, SD, HCM) would be used so that we didn't turn on everything. We knew we would need things such as New GL, AR, AP, Sales Overview, etc, Although, we assume we need these because these are things were doing within ECC.
One of the things that have been lacking is reporting requirements. We initially created a list of every report that we use today (about 600). But we never had any intentions of recreating these reports as some were duplicates (different names), most could be accommodated by ECC, most could be eliminated because there were obsolete, and the remaining could potentially fall to BI. Were getting close to BI Reporting Requirements, right? maybe?
We'll in lies the problem, up till now we have not had a full load of our current erp master data loaded into ECC for testing. Because of this the complaint from the leads is that they don't know what standard ECC reports look like as they are unable to view them with our data and are therefore unable to tell if the reports available in ECC will work for them or not. Because they can't determine if the ECC reports will work they are hesitant to make it a BI report. With that said we are getting ready to enter Iteration Testing Round 1 within the next couple of weeks and we are doing a full master data load form our legacy system and I'm hoping that will flush out some reporting requirements.
So that's were we stand, were getting ready to enter IT1 and I don't feel like I have anything to test and I suppose that's because I don't yet I feel as if Im expected to have tests.
Martin on a side note I read your internal marketing efforts post and like what your doing with the Report Definition Document. I just wanted to know if there was any more to that document (Sub sections) of is the image you have posted pretty much it. Also are these documents available to the end user community?
