I still feel Virtual Provider is not the right choice. If you just want to report on Current and Previous period, you can very well filter the data at Query level on the Standard cube. Please re-think of it..
Moreover, when you report on Standard cube, no matter whether the cube is compressed or not, all the data will be available for reporting.
